Enjoy this tour of peaceful and delighting low mountain landscape of the Bavarian forest from start to finish. You should take this tour as the start of an introduction to the country and the locals. (The description of the route runs clockwise).
The first stop at Miltach is very worthwhile. A visit to Castle Miltach is well worth it. Then drive on over to Bad Kötzting for a walk in the beautiful spa gardens, to gather strength and refuel for the longest stage of the day. Now it’s time to start touring. Passing Furth im Wald, Furth/Daberg and Kleinaign to Neukirchen Hl. blut.. A visit to the pilgrim church is a must. We continue by going to the Lamer Winkel. Lam is just the place for a small coffee break. Carrying on to Lohberg, where the Bavarian forest animal zoo provides information of the former animal world of the Bavarian forest. From now on it's uphill over the winding mountain road to the Gr. Arber. Be sure to take a gondola ride up to the summit of the highest mountain. Afterwards, a drive to Bodenmais to visit the glass manufacturers is more than recommendable. The return journey back to Kollnburg goes past Arnbruck and Viechtach |
